It is prep sports season again, and here are links to a few previews:
The Wildcats have experience and depth. With strong hitters returning, they should be able to compete for a Big Eight conference title. If they can pass well, they should be able to win the conference.
With a first year coach, winning a conference title is tough. But, the Wildcats have a fast, explosive team. It will come down to fundamentals, but I think they will be near the top at the end of the season. They can win the Big Eight, but they can’t lose 1-0 to Madison West, which they did in the opening Waunakee Invitational last weekend.
The Vikings are in a tough conference, but they have shown a lot of improvement with Ben Cleveland and Kadri Heta combining for 14 goals to start the season. They must defeat Madison Edgewood and Oregon if they want to win the Badger South.
The difference an individual can make in golf is amazing. Rebecca Klongland, a freshman, is playing very well. The team won’t take down Madison Edgewood or Oregon, but they are building for the future. Klongland has already helped the team score one of their lowest dual meet totals ever.
The Badger South is tough. Oregon should be at the top of the pack again, but they will need some new faces to step up, with only one starter returning. Look for the Panthers to make a run deep in the postseason.
