The Wildcats escape a big upset despit shooting 35 percent from the field

Villanova averted the upset, but it took an overtime and lots of Robert Morris mistakes. Villanova was 25 for 30 from the free throw-line in the second half and overtime, due to the 31 fouls of Robert Morris.

The Wildcats struggled from the field in the game, and they made many mental errors. Villanova shot 35 percent from the field and was six of 22 from beyond the arc. The result was a close game and a last chance to tie for Robert Morris.

Robert Morris made some big plays down the stretch, but the free throws were the game. They were 21 for 26 from the line for the whole game. Villanova had 10 points more than Robert Morris at the line.

It was a sloppy game, but Villanova moves on with a 73-70 win. The Wildcats must play much better in the next game. Richmond or St. Mary’s will take advantage of the terrible shooting.
