Xavier outlasts Minnesota in lackluster game

The Xavier-Minnesota game was even through halftime, mostly due to Xavier’s lack of execution. Xavier improved slightly in the second half and won a sloppy game 65-54.

Jordan Crawford hit a 3-pointer with 39 seconds to play to essentially seal the game. Crawford led the way for Xavier with 28 points and seven rebounds for the Musketeers. Jamel McLean worked the boards pulling down 14. He finished with seven points.

Lawrence Westbrook scored 19 points for the Golden Gophers.

Xavier’s field goal percentage steadily improved throughout the second half, but was still poor. They will need to shoot much better in the second round if they hope to continue in the NCAA tournament.
